Art by Linda Fox
Since my first art lessons at the age of five, I have drawn, painted and designed most of my life. In college, I worked in theatre scene shops, building and painting sets for plays. I have a BA in Studio Art from Arizona State University, with an emphasis in drawing and photography. In the years following, I have improved my skills and gained more techniques by taking painting, drawing, and sculpture workshops with master artists such as David Kassan, Joshua Fallik, Linda Tracey Brandon, and Rick Casali at Scottsdale Artist’s School.
My work could be described as “Contemporary Realism.” I consider every painting to be a detailed “portrait” of the subject in an effort to capture its individual qualities and character. Often working very slowly on a painting, I use many layers of colored glazes. As long as my subject will hold still, I enjoy working from life. Otherwise, I use photos that I manipulate in photo editing software. I work in a variety of media, but mainly oil and soft pastel.
